5-star fun at the 4th Cape Seal Rally

The Cape Town Harley Owners Group® hosted its 4th Cape Seal Rally, once-again in the beautiful and picturesque Western Cape town of Hermanus, starting from Thursday 30 Nov and ending 3 Dec 2018.

The rally site took up the entire Gearings Point - a spectacular Whale watching site. The town of Hermanus welcomed all the bikers once again with open arms and looked forward to their visit. Being proud H.O.G. Cape Town Chapter members as well as sponsors of the Hermanus Night Shelter, the CT "H.O.G.sters" brought four days of fun to this wonderful seaside town. There were stalls with delicious food, beautiful jewellery and great clothes as well as amazing prizes won throughout the weekend.

The Cape Seal Rally is Cape Town H.O.G.s legendary, signature rally, which is supported by local, national and international visitors. The Rally was open to all Harley® owners and their pillions. Departures were arranged from the dealership to ride in groups at various times over the few days before the rally. Rally fees included a fabulous dinner on the Saturday night which was made more exciting by the theme of the evening, ‘HIGHWAY TO THE SPACE-AGED FUTURE’. There were also live bands on the Friday and Saturday nights to get the party going. Here, local upcoming artists were afforded the opportunity to show-case their talent at the Rally.

Quote from satisfied rally attendee:  Johan Swanepoel: ‘Very easy going Chapter. All H.O.G. members make you feel welcome, even if you aren't a "regular". Lovely people, good rides’. We had great fun’.

On the Saturday morning there was a mass ride to Benguela Cove Wine Estate and a short drive past the Hermanus Night Shelter building to see where the post-rally donations and proceeds go to and to check on progress.

The mass ride through the town was to showcase the shiny Harley-Davidsons® which had the locals shouting and clapping for more. The local town’s folk absolutely loved the pompous display and lined the streets of this tiny town. The weekend ended off with a colourful local Priest who blessed the bikes before everyone headed off for home having had a wonderful weekend with new friends and catch ups with old ones.

The amount raised for the Night Shelter at the Rally was R30 000, and there was enough for three massive jo-jo tanks worth R6 000 for water conservation. The Hermanus Night Shelter stands now at roof height with the reception building’s roof already completed . H.O.G. Cape Town Chapter is proud to have been able to contribute to this very worthy cause which will ensure a place of safety, a roof over the heads of the vulnerable, a shower and a warm bed at night time. This facility will be open to all the homeless irrespective of race, colour or creed.
